My son has been hunting steadily since Oct. 1 with a couple of missed opportunities and a close call with the shot gun but no deer taken. Last Sunday night he was sitting in our neighbours blind and shot this nice doe at thirty yards with his crossbow. He gave it a couple hours and it started snowing so he went back to track and found it after 80 yards.

Im happy he persisted and kept a positive attitude this season even after a couple tough misses. Hunting certainly teaches them a lot about life in general. We butchered the deer on our kitchen table on Thursday evening ahead of the storm as we were worried about it freezing solid.

Here’s a couple pics

Fantastic !
Congratulations on a well earned deer. Good for your son for not giving up.

That is absolutely true that hunting teaches us much more than we think. Patience, persistence, to be humble, respect and pride. Just to name a few.

Very good. Enjoy the fresh venison.

Looks like he adapted well to the near misses. He will encounter many throughout the years and equally as many allowed to walk for a variety of other reasons.

Congratulations to him for his success. Every day Hunting is a new learning experience.
