well yesterday had a jake almost in range but turned down trail at 60yds. when I packed up there were birds in field across the road, figured I didn't have a chance with that Tom as he had 5 hens, but figured maybe once he was done. So today I left house about the time I saw them. I saw them again today but they were on my side of road almost in bush. Set up by 1045, gobbling from where he was with his hens and gobbling from the other side where Jake was yesterday. Made a few calls and I went silent. at 1240 heard gobbling from east where Jake was yesterday, made a soft see bird about 100yds to my left. after about 30yds I see full beard. He kept coming strutting. took shot at 30yds. He never moved. 22.5Lb, 10.125" beard and both spurs were 1.125".

The turkeys are scarce this year, depending on where you are. Everyone I know is having issues as the winter flocks didn’t break up until the beginning of turkey season. The field I hunt had almost 20 birds on it all preseason and zero on it opening day. I have hens roaming the odd Jake roaming and that’s about it right now.
I have confidence in my spot and know there’s turkeys there every year. They just need to settle down a bit.
