100% you can call turkeys for another hunter with no tag. Only stipulation is you can't have a firearm.
Yes it’s technically true. I just looked it up.
However that technicality only applies if I have filled my own tags according to the MNR.
Since I only bought and filled one tag I could still buy another and would have to fill that one also before being able to assist and call for a friend while not having a tag or firearm.
Thanks for the correction.
Devil is in the details. From the regs "Party hunting is not permitted for wild turkey. You are permitted to call wild turkeys for another hunter after filling your own tag(s), but you must not be in possession of a firearm when doing so. It is illegal to use live decoys or electronic calls while wild turkey hunting in Ontario. " if it was written tags than yes you need to fill both first however as it is written tag(s) means if you only have one tag and its filled you can still call. Just remember need to have the summary with you. Now that is only my interpretation you got to go with what you're comfortable with, might want to run it by a CO for verification.

Completely valid argument. I appreciate the view point. I do remember in my Turkey portion of the hunting course they stated you couldn’t call for another Hunter without a tag. That info was wrong in the course as we can plainly read. I do think this could be one of those regs that all depend on the CO you run into.

Usually don't worry about the CO as most work on common sense and if you treat them with respect you'll get the same back in return. The only time I could see a problem is if you're hunting with a partner you bag a bird your partner still on the hunt. What do you do? Depends who has the car keys? Do you leave having your partner walk home? My take is case your gun(or gun sock if traveling light) and continue hunting as before.
