With the weather being so incredibly hot, I have avoided deer hunting like the plague. It’s not my cup of tea to Hunt deer and whether this hot and if you do shoot one it’s a mad - to cool the animal off in some manner.
For that reason, I’ve turned to hunting some small game currently. I love squirrel hunting, but I don’t have a great property for it right now. I do, however have a good property for rabbits. I went out for the evening tonight just for a quick walk. Managed to get a nice cottontail for the first one of the year.

Weather looks like it going to go back to normal so maybe deer hunting back on the table. while fishing today buddy and I were talking about deer hunting, we figured you wouldn't have a lot of time to get it to a cooler oh and our fishing was really slow, 1 nice bluegill and some really small perch and bass like 2" long. I do like squirrel as well and only hunt them around the farm buildings. No rabbits left around here the coyotes have cleaned up on them. But with this weather I been fishing or golfing.

Went fishing and took the 20 gauge for a bird hunt afterward. Wouldn’t you know that as I was off-roading into my fishing spot at daybreak, a grouse marched down the trail in front of me, strutting around as if it knew the gun was still in its case. Canoed around, No brookies, not even a bite till noon. Went for a little explore hike to break up the fishing at one point and did surprise a couple moose just on the other side of some freshly felled tree tops from me. I just heard the crunch-crunch-crunch of their feet running away from me - no visuals. Then a drive afterward, exploring some new logging roads - saw a grouse rise. Went in the bush after it and couldn’t spot it. - stepping out of the ditch up onto the road and it took off a few feet from me. No shot. Good day out in the woods, nothing brought home.

The grouse hunting on our moose hunt was great this year. Sharptails,spruce and ruffs. On one trip back to camp we shot five….. about a half hour sliw wheeler ride.

Many grouse ruffs sharpies and spruce and rabbits out moose hunting one thing that was seen this year was many wolves one of our group members had 2 tags and took out 1 wolf .I was surprised in how many one pack had 7 another sighting there was 3 and 1 on its own total 11 wolves not good for the moose in the winter game Warden also indicating that.
