BTW, that was 175 lb on the butchers hook after guts (in the field), head, hide & hocks (in the garage) removed. Care to hazard a guess about live weight? He was a stud.

Also, I cut out a lot of the fat layer before taking to the butcher.
Some sources say live weight x 78% = dressed weight, then x 75% again to get butchers hook weight. Another source says hanging weight = 58.5% of live weight. Either one seems generous to live weight estimate. I didn't measure chest girth which is another rough estimate method.

I took one to the a butcher a few years ago hanging weight ready to cut up was the same175lb, The butcher figured 310 to 325 live weight,I did measure the chest at 51 inches.
